3/29/2024 9:30:00 PM

Towson, MD - The College of Staten Island Track & Field Team made their debut in the Towson Invitational earlier today as the team set numerous program records in their second meet of the Outdoor season.  Records fell for both the CSI men and women on the track and in the field, including both individual events and relay events.  Two new program records were set by the CSI men with the women breaking an additional two records on the day.

The first record-setting effort of the day belonged to Vincent Ohenhen in the 100-Meter Dash.  Ohenhen clocked in with a time of 10.61s in the final heat, good for 4th place overall.  However, the new program record was set in the preliminary heat where he posted a time of 10.59s, over four-tenths of a second better than his previous record-setting time.  In the field, Dominick Hric also set a new program record for the CSI men in the Shot Put.  The freshman's distance of 10.73m was good for 16th overall.

The CSI women added two program records in the meet as well with Ava Thompson coming just short of a record in the Hammer.  Her distance of 36.86m fell just short of the current record held by teammate Skylar Pointer and was good for 21st in the meet.  Angelina Guerriero also set a new record in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 30.06m, good for 6th overall.  This effort surpassed a program record that had previously stood for five seasons.  Lastly, the CSI women set a record in the 4x100 Relay as Inioluwa Ogunfowora, Sofia Dulisova, Zahriyah Kerr, and Precious Dillon combined to post a time of 54.59s.  This bested the previous record by nearly 1.7 seconds.  In addition to her contribution to the record-setting relay, Dulisova also took 3rd in the High Jump with a height of 1.55m.

The Outdoor Track & Field Team will next compete in two weeks when they visit Flushing for the Knights Invite hosted by Queens College.
