TWO RECORDS FALL AT THE RAMAPO INVITATIONAL IN DOLPHINS FIRST OUTDOOR MEET OF 2026

MAHWAH, NJ – The College of Staten Island men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened the 2026 season at the Ramapo Invitational in Mahwah, NJ.

Across the two-day meet, the Dolphins recorded two new school records on the women's side, while both teams delivered a number of personal-best performances to begin the season on a strong note.

Angelina Guerriero led the way with a school-record performance in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing sixth overall in 14:07.45. Adriana Roa followed with a record of her own in the 5,000m, also placing sixth in 18:59.11. In the same event, Anna Carafiol (20:58.92) and Raquel Pasco (22:32.05) each posted personal-best times.

Additional top finishes came from Karran Riley and Adonijah Washington. Riley placed seventh in the men's 400m dash in 51.63, while Washington finished fifth in the women's 400m dash in 1:03.63. Guerriero also added a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 33.03 meters.

On the men's side, the distance group of Kevin Deyo, Walter Gavilanes, and Peter Galletta turned in strong efforts in the 800m and 1,500m events. In the 800m, Galletta led the Dolphins with a personal-best time of 2:17.48, followed by Deyo in 2:26.75. Gavilanes competed in the 1,500m, recording a personal best of 4:51.11.

The Dolphins return to action next Saturday, April 4, at the All-American Meet hosted by East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA.
