TRACK & FIELD EARNS SIX MEDALS IN RECORD-SETTING PERFORMANCE AT 2024 ECC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Rochester, NY - The College of Staten Island Track & Field Team put together a record-setting day at the 2024 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship earlier today.  The Dolphins set six new program records on their way to six medals in the meet, and the team achieved numerous personal-bests in their penultimate meet of the 2024 season.  With their six medals, four individuals combined to earn the Dolphins five All-Conference honors.  The CSI men also earned an additional All-Conference selection for their performance in the 4x100 Relay.

The Dolphins achieved a plethora of personal-bests at today's meet spanning events both on the track and in the field.  In the field, Ava Thompson set personal records in the Shot Put and Discus.  Aryanna Finkelstein also achieved a personal-best in the Javelin, and Skylar Pointer set a personal record in the the Hammer.  On the track, Elizabeth Nicotra, Angelina Guerriero, Matthew Amato and Wayne Stephenson all achieved career-bests in the 10K.  In Sprints, the Dolphins saw seven runners combine for another twelve personal records.  Fortune Uzo, Precious Dillon, Zahriyah Kerr, and Keyonna Evans all achieved the best times of their careers in both the 100 and 200 Meter.  Inioluwa Ogunfowora also set a personal record in the 100 Meter and Emily Matatyaev achieved a career best in the 200 Meter.  Lastly, Ibrahima Diallo set personal records in the 200 Meter and 400 Meter while Alan Bass set a personal record in the Steeplechase.

In addition to the personal-bests achieved by the Dolphins, Bass and Dominik Hric combined to set four program records.  Bass' performance in the Steeplechase set the first of the four records while Hric is now the program record-holder in the Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer.  For the CSI women, Angelina Guerriero set a new program record in the 10K and Alexandrea Jackson became the program record-holder in the 400 Meter Hurdles.  In relays, the women's 4x800 and both the men's and women's 4x100 saw the Dolphins best the prior program record.

Finally, four Dolphins combined to earn five medals in individual events.  Two belonged to Vincent Ohenhen who finished second in both the 100 and 200 Meter.  Steven Elcock earned the lone gold medal with a first-place finish in the 400 Meter.  Both Ibrahima Diallo and Ava Thompson earned bronze medals in the 400 Meter and Discus respectively.  In the 4x100, the CSI men placed second overall to earn another silver medal as well.

Ohenhen earned ECC All-Conference First Team in the 100 and 200 while Elcock earned a First Team selection in the 400.  Thompson and Diallo both earned Second Team honors for the events they medaled in while the CSI men's 4x100 Relay squad earned another First Team selection.

The Outdoor Track & Field Team has one more meet on the schedule as they will participate in the Essex County College Last Chance Invite next weekend.
