Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DOLPHINS WRAP HOMESTAND WITH LOSS TO GEORGIAN COURT, 4-0

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team wrapped up their two-game homestand earlier today and dropped a match against Georgian Court University by a final score of 4-0.  The Lions surged in front early with a pair of Seanna Boen goals in the first five minutes of play.  From there, GCU added two more scores, one in the first half and another in the second half, on their way to a 4-0 victory.  The Dolphins drop to 0-3-1 on the season with the loss and the Lions move to 3-1 on the year.  GCU also extends their lead in the all-time series to 2-0-2.

The Lions wasted no time getting ahead as Boen scored the first of her two goals on a free kick just 95 seconds into the match.  The opportunity was set up following a Dolphins hand ball just outside of the penalty area and Boen's shot was tucked just beneath the crossbar and over Dolphins goalkeeper Brianna Dore.  Less than 3 minutes later, Boen scored again on a setup from Breanna Parkinson to put the Lions ahead 2-0.  This score stood until the 28th minute when Chelsea Lavezzo extended the lead to three following the setup on a through ball from Julianna Rettino.

Trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Dolphins did begin to generate more opportunities in the second half.  However, they attempted just a single shot in the first 45 minutes allowing 17 to GCU.  The shot tally was much closer during the final 45 minutes, but the lone goal belonged to the Lions Chiamaka Wokocha.  Set up right in front of the Dolphins goal, the sophomore put the Lions ahead 4-0, their final margin of victory.

Isabella Radovini and Nadia Evola led the way for the Dolphins with two shots each and Emily Albano played the full 90 minutes at back.  In goal, Dore faced 26 shots in total, eleven of those on target.  She finished the match with seven saves and Lions backup goalkeeper Jaeleigh Tuccille registered the only two saves of the match for GCU.

The Dolphins will face Goldey-Beacom College on the road this coming Wednesday before they return home for their conference opener against Daemen University on Saturday.
