DOLPHIN DUO LEAD WOMEN'S SOCCER TO FIRST ECC VICTORY OF 2025 AT STAC

SPARKILL, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team kicked off their four-game road stretch with an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on Wednesday afternoon in Sparkill, NY.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Dolphins rallied with a long-range goal from Isabella Schlee, which happened to be her first goal of her collegiate career. Following a turnover near the 30-yard line, Schlee gained possession and launched a high shot that sailed past the Spartans' goalkeeper, leveling the score at 1-1.

Schlee's goal sparked a momentum shift for the Dolphins, who quickly capitalized by taking a 2-1 lead just moments later. Phoebe Ossola controlled the ball in the backfield and sent a pass forward to Albana Gjonbalaj, who's quick one-touch strike found the back of the net, for her first collegiate career goal. The goal stood as the game-winner, securing the Dolphins' first ECC victory of the season.

The Dolphins were led by duo, Schlee and Gjonbalaj, with their lone goals of the day. Gjonbalaj and Rachael Charsky tallied four shots apiece followed by Ossola and Annika Jurik with two. Keeper, Brianna Dore, secured her first win in net this year with six saves.

CSI women's soccer (2-5-1 / 1-2 ECC) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Buffalo, NY against D'Youville University at 12:00 PM.
