LATE GOAL SENDS DOLPHINS TO ECC DEFEAT AT D'YOUVILLE

BUFFALO, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team continued East Coast Conference (ECC) play on Saturday afternoon, traveling to D'Youville University in Buffalo, NY. The first half remained scoreless, but the Saints applied steady offensive pressure and netted the lone goal of the match to hand the Dolphins a 1-0 defeat.

Annika Jurik continued her strong play with the Dolphins' first shot on goal just four minutes into regulation. Caitlyn Thompson, Mazzy Cirinelli, and Eva Rodriguez each added first-half attempts, but the Dolphins were unable to convert before halftime.

The Saints opened the second half with a pair of quick shots that pushed the Dolphins on the defensive, but on their third attempt, goalkeeper Brianna Dore made a clutch save to keep the match at nil. Moments after another save from Dore, the Saints connected on a cross to the right side and delivered a quick back pass that set up a long-range strike, securing the 1-0 victory for the hosts.

Jurik, Thompson, Cirinelli, Rodrigez, and Sabrina Dore led the offensive push for CSI with a shot attempt apiece, three being on target. Brianna Dore finished the day with four saves in goal.

The College of Staten Island women's soccer team (2-6-1 / 1-3 ECC) will return to non-conference action on Wednesday, October. 8, at 4:00 PM at Caldwell University in Caldwell, NJ.
