WOMEN'S SOCCER SHATTERS GOAL RECORD IN WIN OVER LINCOLN (PA.)

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island women's soccer team set a program record for most goals in a single game with a 10-0 shutout victory over Lincoln University (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon at Dolphin Soccer Park. The Dolphins posted five goals in each half for the new standard and Annika Jurik led the team with her first collegiate career hat trick followed by Caitlyn Thompson with two.

CSI controlled the tempo from the start, recording 13 shots in the first half and scoring five goals. Jurik sparked the scoring run with back-to-back goals, assisted by Mazzy Cirinelli and Rachel Charsky then eventually Mia Cole netted the first goal of her collegiate career, while Emilie Nagel added her first of the season, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead. Yelyzaveta Kovalenko netted the final goal of the first half and the Dolphins sit on top 5-0.

Thompson and the Dolphins continued to pile on the offensive pressure early in the second half, firing a shot less than a minute in. After the initial miss, Thompson quickly responded with her second goal of the game, making it 6-0. After Jurik completed her hat trick, Riley Hammond added to the tally, pushing the Dolphins ahead 8-0. Thompson and Eva Rodriguez capped off the scoring, securing the non-conference victory and setting a new program record with 10 goals in a single game, surpassing the previous mark of nine set in 2019.

The Dolphins improve to 3-8-1 on the season and will return to Dolphin Soccer Park for their final home game of the regular season and their senior day celebration on Saturday at noon versus Queens (NY).
