DOLPHINS SET THE TONE IN FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON AFTER 20-POINT WIN OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season Saturday evening, hosting the East Region Conference Challenge at the Tank with a non-conference matchup against Franklin Pierce University.

Newcomers Racky Kane and Shonyae Edmonds powered the Dolphins to a 67–47 victory, each finishing in double figures.

CSI opened the first quarter on a 9–0 run with contributions from Kane, Edmonds, Kyra Rose, and Arielle Barnes. Franklin Pierce narrowed the deficit to 11–8, but a fastbreak bucket from Kane helped the Dolphins close the quarter ahead, 14–10.

The second quarter marked CSI's strongest defensive stretch, holding the Ravens to just five points while adding 14 of their own to take a 28–15 lead into halftime. The Dolphins followed that with their most productive offensive quarter of the night, piling on 23 points in the third behind Kane, Rose, Barnes, and Dana Phelan.

CSI entered the fourth with a commanding 53–33 advantage. Late in the game, Myah McKie pushed the Dolphins to their largest lead of the night at 25 with a bucket in the paint.

Kane led all scorers with 22 points, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double and adding four blocks. Edmonds posted 20 points and nine rebounds, while Barnes controlled the glass with 12 rebounds and handed out five assists. Rose and Phelan chipped in defensively with three steals each.

The Dolphins return to the Tank on Sunday afternoon for day two of the Conference Challenge, hosting Saint Michael's College at 2:00 p.m.
