STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team is back in action at The Tank for the first time since their Florida trip as they host Adelphi University. The Dolphins enter today's 3:00 p.m. matchup with the Panthers at 2-2 on the season. Adelphi enters the day with a record of 3-0 having won all of their games by double-digits.
The Dolphins got off to a 2-0 start before suffering their first loss at the University of Tampa earlier this week. Despite the defeat, junior Aaron Goldstein scored a career-high 40 points and enters the day averaging 23.5 points per game. Following consecutive double-doubles, Asa Kone is now averaging 9.5 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting over 68% from the field. Mitchell Wiggan (13.8 ppg) and JJ Chestnut (10.8 ppg) join Goldstein in double-figures for a CSI team shooting 43% from the field.
Five Panthers are averaging double figures led by Dayshaun Walton's 15 points per game. Mason Jackson is right behind him with 14.7 points per game, and Patrick Burke is two rebounds shy of averaging a double-double with 12.0 points and 9.0 boards per game. All three of Adelphi's leading scorers are shooting over 53% from the field, and the Panthers come in shooting 54% as a team. More notably, Adelphi enters the day shooting over 42% on 64 three-point attempts this season.
