STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team hits the road for a two-game stretch this week, beginning Tuesday evening in Pleasantville, NY, against Pace University. CSI enters the contest following a 1–2 week that featured contests against Tampa, No. 15 Florida Southern, and Adelphi. Pace, meanwhile, is coming off a 1–0 week after defeating American International.
The Dolphins and Setters have met eight times in program history, beginning in the 1980–81 season. CSI opened the all-time series with four straight wins throughout the 1980s before the teams met again in 2019–20, the Dolphins' first season at the Division II level, where Pace handed CSI its first series loss. Last season, the then–11th-ranked Setters visited the Tank and earned a 78–46 victory. JJ Chestnut led CSI in that matchup with 11 points on 50% shooting (4–8), while Asa Kone pulled down six rebounds.
The Dolphins enter Tuesday's game led by ECC Co-Player of the Week Aaron Goldstein, who is averaging 24.8 ppg. Chestnut follows at 12.8 ppg, with Mitchell Wiggan contributing 11.4. Kone leads CSI in field-goal percentage at 58% (15–26) and paces the team on the glass with 8.8 rebounds per game. Pace counters with three players averaging double figures, including one averaging a double-double with 10.7 rebounds per contest.
