STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team returns to the Tank on Tuesday evening to host Franklin Pierce University in its final contest before the new year. The Dolphins enter the matchup riding a four-game winning streak and boasting a perfect 7–0 record on their home court.
The all-time series between the two programs is tied at 1–1. Franklin Pierce claimed the first meeting with a 77–69 victory on January 17, 2023, in Rindge, N.H., before CSI evened the series with a 93–86 home win in 2024. In that contest, the game was tied once early in regulation, but after the Dolphins connected on a three-pointer to take a 5–2 lead, they held the advantage for the remainder of the contest. CSI shot an efficient 64% (7–11) from the floor in the first half to build its early cushion. Although the Ravens found their rhythm in the second half, knocking down seven three-pointers, the Dolphins maintained control to secure the victory.
CSI holds the edge in overall record this season at 9–4, while Franklin Pierce enters at 4–6. Over their last five games, the Dolphins are 4–1, with their lone loss coming in a high-scoring road contest at St. Thomas Aquinas on December 10. The Ravens are 2–3 in their last five outings, with wins over ECC opponents Queens College and Mercy University.
Aaron Goldstein continues to fuel the Dolphins' offense, raising his scoring average to 21.2 points per game, the highest mark on the team and across the East Coast Conference (ECC). Four additional Dolphins are averaging double figures: Asa Kone ranks second with 12.1 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and blocks (10); Eric Tynes is close behind at 11.7 ppg; Mitchell Wiggan adds 11.2 ppg; and JJ Chestnut contributes 10.8 ppg while pacing the team with 68 assists, highlighted by a 13-assist performance on December 17, good for second all-time in assists during a single game.
Franklin Pierce features three players averaging double figures, led by an 18.4 ppg scorer who also tops the team with 20 steals. Their second-leading scorer averages 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while the third adds 10.3 ppg.
