STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team will host Cheyney University of Pennsylvania on Monday evening in the Tank, marking the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Dolphins enter the new week at 1–0 after their East Coast Conference (ECC) victory over Mercy, while Cheyney comes in at 0–1 following a loss to Mid-Atlantic Christian.

Although CSI's game against St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday was suspended due to court conditions, Aaron Goldstein remains the Dolphins' leading scorer, averaging 21.5 points per game while shooting 47% (53–113) from the field. He is followed by JJ Chestnut, who is averaging 12.5 points, 4.0 assists, and has tallied six blocks. Wiggan ranks third in scoring at 10.5 points per game, boosted by his 17-point performance against Georgian Court last weekend. Asa Kone continues to anchor the interior, leading the team with 9.1 rebounds per game and seven blocks. Freshman Andrew Benedict made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut, recording his first career double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in Wednesday's win over Mercy.

Cheyney enters the contest 3–6 on the season and is led by a single double-digit scorer at 13.5 points per game, with their next highest contributor averaging 9.5. As a team, the Wolves are scoring 74.8 points per game, though they have been held below 70 in each of their last two outings, finishing with 68 and 60 points respectively.
