DOLPHINS LIMITED TO ONE HIT IN SERIES OPENER AGAINST QUEENS

Flushing, NY - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team dropped their series opener on the road against Queens College earlier today as the Dolphins were limited to one hit in a 9-3 defeat.  The Knights took an early 3-0 lead, but the Dolphins pulled to within one in the third inning.  From here, the Knights scored six of the next seven runs to secure the 9-3 victory.  CSI falls to 7-20 overall and 1-4 in conference play with the loss.  The Knights end the day 8-14 on the year and 1-0 against the ECC.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but ultimately stranded two on base in the opening frame.  Queens then scored two more in the second on three hits, but CSI starter Ryan Kehoe was able to strand two more on base to limit the damage.  The Dolphins got on the board for the first time in the third when Jack Kehoe delivered a two-run home to make it a 3-2 game.  Back-to-back Dolphins would reach on a one-out walk following the home run, but both runners would be stranded in scoring position.  Leading by one, Queens added two runs to their lead in the fourth to go ahead 5-2.  The Dolphins then got one run back on a bases loaded walk before ultimately stranding the bases loaded in the fifth.  This was the last big opportunity of the game for the Dolphins, and the Knights would score two runs in both the seventh and the eighth.  Limiting the Dolphins to just one hit in the game, the Knights took the series opener by a final score of 9-3.

Kehoe had the lone hit for the Dolphins and two of the three CSI RBI's.  The third belonged to Jaden Waterman who drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth.  As a team, the Dolphins drew nine walks in the game, but CSI left seven runners on base.

The series between the Dolphins and Knights continues tomorrow with a doubleheader at the CSI Baseball Complex.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
