VIGLIOTTI DRIVES IN SEVEN AS DOLPHINS WIN ON HEROES DAY, 14-8

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Baseball Team continued their offensive hots streak on Heroes Day earlier tonight as they scored 14 runs in a victory over Felician University, 14-8.  Prior to the start of the game, the Dolphins honored Steve Sosa, Paul Polemeni, and Anthony Varvaro with a pregame ceremony that recalled the life of each hero.  The team also welcomed Rocco Dimaggio, a young boy battling neuroblastoma, as part of an effort to raise funds for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  Facing the Golden Falcons on the field, the Dolphins broke the game wide open with eight runs in the third and never looked back as they won for the fifth time in their last seven games.  The Dolphins end the night 16-24 and the Golden Falcons finish the day 28-16.

After a leadoff double to open the game by Chris Polemeni, AJ Vigliotti brought home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Dolphins.  Two innings later, CSI broke the game wide open with a series of run-scoring hits.  A throwing error brought home the second Dolphins run before an RBI single by Vigliotti made it 3-0.  TJ Laino then singled home the fourth CSI run, and another sacrifice fly from Jaden Waterman made it 5-0.  With two outs in the frame, Nico Rodriguez made it 7-0 with a 2-RBI single.  Finally, a walk and a balk brought home two more.

Now leading 9-0, the Dolphins had all of the offense they would need.  Felician scored twice in the fifth, but the Dolphins answered right back with a grand slam by Vigliotti to make it 13-2.  Vigliotti then drove in his seventh run of the game two innings later to make it 14-2, and this would be the final time that the Dolphins would score.  Felician would add three in the eighth and three in the ninth, but the Dolphins lead was never in jeopardy as they went on to win, 14-8.

Polemeni and Vigliotti led the Dolphins with three hits each and Vigliotti drove in seven runs in a game for the third time this season.  As a team, the Dolphins collected 14 hits, and CSI scored 13 or more runs for the third time in their last five games.  Ryan Kehoe picked up his fourth win of the season allowing two runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of work, and three CSI relievers combined to pitch the last four innings.

The Dolphins are expected to be out of action until the final weekend of the regular season when they will host a four-game series against D'Youville at the CSI Baseball Complex.  Game one is scheduled for Friday, May 2nd at 3:30 PM.
