ROCHESTER, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team returns to action following a week-long break, traveling to Rochester, NY to face Roberts Wesleyan University at 2:00 PM. The Dolphins closed their previous week with a pair of historic victories, finishing 2–0 after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College for the first time since 1979 and edging Mercy in an overtime thriller, 103–98.

Dolphins Secured 2-1 Meeting Victory In 2025-26

CSI has won each of its two meetings with the Red Hawks during the 2025–26 season. The Dolphins first secured a convincing 74–52 home victory on Feb. 19, 2025, fueled by a dominant defensive effort that limited Roberts Wesleyan to just 18 points in the first half while CSI built a 34–18 lead. The teams met again a few weeks later in the quarterfinal round of the ECC Tournament, where CSI carried a 44–28 halftime advantage.

Roberts Wesleyan mounted a second-half push, outscoring the Dolphins 47–37 after the break, but CSI held on for an 81–75 postseason win. In that contest, Aaron Goldstein connected on five three-pointers and finished with 17 points, while Asa Kone recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Current ECC Standings

Following a 2–0 week in ECC play, the Dolphins initially climbed to second in the conference standings before slipping to third after St. Thomas Aquinas earned its sixth conference victory. CSI now awaits its matchup with Roberts Wesleyan. The Red Hawks enter the contest with a 1–4 ECC record and a 3–10 mark overall, with their lone conference win coming against Mercy.

Individual Scoring Comparison

Goldstein continues to lead both the Dolphins and the ECC offensively, averaging 21.7 points per game with 412 total points on the season. He was named ECC Player of the Week for the third time and MBWA Division II/III Player of the Week for the second time, while also ranking first in the conference with 2.9 three-pointers made per game. Kone follows as CSI's second-leading scorer at 12.8 points per game and leads the ECC in field goal percentage at 60.4 percent. He also ranks fourth in the conference and first on the team in rebounding at 7.9 boards per game, while adding 12 blocks. CSI features three additional double-digit scorers in Eric Tynes at 11.6 points per game, JJ Chestnut at 11.0, and Mitchell Wiggan at 10.6.

Roberts Wesleyan counters with four players averaging double figures, led by a top scorer averaging 14.0 points per game, followed by contributors averaging 13.7 and 12.5 points per contest.
