NEWARK, NJ – The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NJIT Invitational in Newark, NJ, on Saturday morning. The Dolphins faced several Division I programs, including Army and the University at Albany, with the women's team finishing 12th out of 24 teams and the men placing 14th.

On the women's side, the Dolphins saw a program record fall in the 5K, breaking a mark set last season at the Highlander Invitational, also hosted by NJIT. Adriana Roa continued her stellar sophomore season by leading the Dolphins with a 16th-place finish overall and a CSI-record time of 18:37.58. Additionally, every women's participant recorded a personal-best time in the 5K. Raquel Pasco was the second Dolphin finisher with a time of 20:39.32, followed by Aurelia James at 21:18.04. The final three Dolphin finishers were Kayla Larsen (21:50.78), Awa Jammeh (22:33.90), and Jacqueline Washington (24:06.52), with each recording a personal-best time in the race.

On the men's side, Peter Galletta led the Dolphins with a 63rd-place finish out of 187 runners, recording a time of 27:32.53, the fourth-fastest 8K time in the CSI men's cross country record book. Like the women's team, every male runner recorded a personal-best 8K time. Current ECC Rookie of the Week Nicholas Allegretti finished second on the team with a time of 28:56.75, followed by Jehu Ermilus at 29:33.87 and Walter Gavilanes at 29:59.17. The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, October 17, for their final regular-season meet at the SJLI Invitational in Kings Park, NY.
