ROCHESTER, NY – The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships Saturday morning at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trail in Rochester, NY. The women's 5K race is scheduled for 10:00 AM, followed by the men's 8K at 11:00 AM.

2026 DOLPHINS REVIEW:

Throughout the 2026 campaign, the Dolphins have demonstrated steady improvement from last season, particularly on the women's side. The women recorded top-three finishes in three of their four regular-season meets, highlighted by their best finish of the season at the SJLI Invitational on October 17. On the men's side, the Dolphins posted their highest team finish of the season with a pair of second-place performances, first at the Queensborough Invitational on October 4 and again at the SJLI Invitational on October 17.

Leading the way for the women is Adriana Roa, who reset her own CSI 5K record at the Highlander Invitational on October 10 with a time of 18:37.58. The sophomore also captured two individual victories this season, crossing the finish line first at both the Back to the Bowl Invitational and the Queensborough Invitational. In the Dolphins' final regular-season meet, Roa finished third with a time of 20:02.03, placing just two spots behind a runner from St. Thomas Aquinas College, one of CSI's top competitors heading into this year's ECC Championships.

For the men, Peter Galletta has been a consistent top performer, finishing as the Dolphins' leading runner in every meet this season except one. The sophomore recorded his best time of the year at the Highlander Invitational, crossing the finish line in 27:32.53. Newcomer Nicholas Allegretti has also made an impact in his first season with CSI. He recorded a season-best 14th-place finish at the Queensborough Invitational, leading the Dolphins with a time of 30:32.61. Following that performance, Allegretti earned ECC Men's Rookie of the Week honors.

2025 ECC RECAP:

At the 2025 ECC Championships, the Dolphins competed at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY, where the women's team recorded its highest-ever finish at the postseason meet, placing fifth, while the men finished seventh.

Roa earned Second Team All-ECC recognition after placing 12th overall in the women's 5K with a time of 19:53.60. That mark stands as the third-fastest time ever recorded by a CSI women's runner at Sunken Meadow State Park. The Dolphins' overall fifth-place finish was also the best in the program's six appearances at the ECC Championships dating back to 2019, with eight runners representing CSI in the race. On the men's side, Galletta paced the Dolphins in the 8K, crossing the finish line in 30:23.90. Returners Kevin Deyo (31:25.70), Walter Gavilanes (32:54.10), and Jehu Ermilus (33:01.20) also contributed to the Dolphins' seventh-place team finish.
