STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in one meet last week, traveling to Pace University for a Northeast 10 (NE10) matchup. Leading the way for the Dolphins was Vlad Siniagovskii, who delivered a standout performance and earned his first career NE10 Men's Swimmer of the Week honor.
The graduate student competed in four events in Pleasantville on Saturday, including two relays and two individual races. Siniagovskii served as the leadoff swimmer in both relays, helping the Dolphins secure second-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.94) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:27.66). In individual competition, Siniagovskii claimed first place in both of his signature events, the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke. He won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.82, finishing eight seconds ahead of the runner-up. He followed that performance with another first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:02.69.
Siniagovskii currently ranks among the NE10's top 10 performers in both backstroke events. He sits sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 52.82 and seventh in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.81. Both times were recorded two weeks ago against Felician University and Adelphi University.
The College of Staten Island men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to the Tank this Saturday, November 7, when they host Southern Connecticut State University and East Stroudsburg University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
