STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team continues its home schedule Saturday afternoon as the Dolphins host the University of the District of Columbia. CSI is set to tip off at 1:00 PM in the first game of the afternoon.
The Dolphins will also celebrate Alumni Day, featuring an Alumni Game prior to the warm up period for the East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup.
Dec. 13, 2025 Match Up - Dolphins Rally in the Second
In the first meeting of the season, the Firebirds controlled much of the contest before a strong second-half surge propelled the Dolphins to an ECC victory.
UDC entered halftime with a 12-point lead, 46-34, after shooting 57% (20-35) from the floor compared to CSI's 39% (14-36). Eric Tynes led the Dolphins in the opening half with 11 points, drilling three three-pointers. CSI battled back in the second half behind Asa Kone, who scored 16 points while shooting an impressive 86% (6-7) from the field. Aaron Goldstein added 12 points and four assists. As UDC attempted to maintain its double-digit advantage, Kone cut the deficit to eight and later tied the game at 60 with a bucket in the paint.
JJ Chestnut gave the Dolphins a 62-60 lead, though the Firebirds briefly regained the advantage with five minutes remaining. Goldstein responded by putting CSI back in front, sparking a decisive five-point swing that gave the Dolphins a 72-67 edge. CSI closed out the game to secure a 78-73 victory.
Dolphins Lead All-Time Series
CSI enters Saturday on a five-game winning streak against UDC. The Dolphins' last loss to the Firebirds came during the 2022-23 season on the road in the ECC Quarterfinals. Since then, CSI has taken control of the all-time series, 6-4.

The Dolphins currently sit in third place in the ECC standings with an 8-4 conference record and a 17-7 overall mark. The Firebirds enter the matchup in eighth place with a 2-9 conference record and a 3-17 overall record.

Kone and Goldstein continue to rank among the conference leaders in their respective statistical categories. Goldstein leads both the team and the ECC in scoring at 21.5 points per game, while Kone tops the conference in field goal percentage at 60% (105-175). Three additional Dolphins average double figures in scoring: JJ Chestnut (11.9 ppg), Mitchell Wiggan (11.5 ppg), and Eric Tynes (11.0 ppg).
UDC is led by four players averaging double-digit scoring, with its top scorer posting 12.5 points per game, followed by averages of 12.3, 10.6, and 10.1.
