FLUSHING, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will look to secure its fourth consecutive East Coast Conference (ECC) postseason appearance when it travels to face Queens College on Thursday evening at the South Gymnasium in Flushing, NY. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, the game was moved to Thursday, Feb. 26 due to snowy conditions.
Jan. 28, 2026 Meeting Summary – CSI Defeats Queens at The Tank
The Dolphins hosted the first meeting of the season against the Knights on Jan. 28 at The Tank, earning a 72-54 victory. Both teams battled through the first half, with CSI outscoring Queens 19-11 in the opening quarter before the Knights responded with a 17-12 advantage in the second. The Dolphins entered halftime holding a narrow 31-28 lead. CSI took control in the third quarter, posting its highest scoring output of the night with 23 points. Senior Dana Phelan led the surge, finishing with a career-high 30 points. Kyra Rose capped the quarter with an and-one opportunity that extended the Dolphins' lead to 54-41 heading into the final period.
Rose, Phelan, and Shonyae Edmonds opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run, highlighted by a Phelan three-pointer that pushed the lead to 20, 61-41, with seven minutes remaining. The Dolphins maintained their momentum the rest of the way to secure the 72-54 win. Phelan finished with 30 points, tying her career high with six three-pointers. Rose recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while adding three steals. Arielle Barnes also reached double figures with 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Battle for the ECC Postseason
CSI is aiming for its fourth consecutive ECC postseason appearance since transitioning to Division II in 2021. The Dolphins currently sit in sixth place in the conference standings with a 5-9 record, while Queens is two spots behind at 4-10. With only six teams qualifying for the ECC Tournament, Thursday's matchup carries significant postseason implications.

Edmonds has been a key contributor for the Dolphins over the last three games, recording three consecutive double-doubles. She is averaging 11.0 points per game, second on the team, while leading CSI with 7.9 rebounds per game. Rose continues to pace the Dolphins offensively with 14.0 points per game while shooting 46 percent (117-for-257) from the field and averaging 7.7 rebounds per contest.
