STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team hosted its final home contest of the 2025–26 season on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Molloy University for Senior Day at the Tank.
Prior to tip-off, the Dolphins honored seniors Dana Phelan and Kyra Rose. With the victory, CSI also clinched its fourth consecutive postseason appearance, securing the No. 5 seed in the East Coast Conference tournament.
The game remained tightly contested throughout. CSI opened the afternoon on an 8-2 run behind early baskets from Arielle Barnes, Shonyae Edmonds, and Rose, but Molloy responded to take a 13-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Rose and Phelan combined for the Dolphins' final points of the period to keep the deficit at one.
The second and third quarters proved pivotal for CSI's momentum. The Dolphins held the Lions to just eight points in the second quarter while scoring 12 of their own to take a 24-21 lead into halftime. Rose and Dorothy Wiese sparked the offense with consecutive baskets to begin the frame, while Phelan and Edmonds helped CSI build a lead that reached five points on three separate occasions.
Rose opened the second half with a bucket to maintain the advantage at 26-21, but Molloy quickly answered to tie the game at 26. The third quarter became the highest-scoring stretch for both teams, with the Lions posting 23 points. The Dolphins, however, countered with 27, capped by a Rose buzzer-beater that sent CSI into the fourth quarter with a 51-44 lead.
In a competitive final period, the Dolphins closed out the afternoon with a 68-61 victory. Edmonds opened the quarter with another basket in the paint to extend CSI's lead to nine, its largest of the game, before the Lions surged back to briefly take a 59-58 advantage. Barnes responded by going 2-for-2 from the free-throw line to reclaim the lead for CSI, helping the Dolphins pull away late for the conference win.
Edmonds recorded her fifth consecutive double-double, finishing with 23 points and 12 rebounds while also leading the team with four steals. Rose added 17 points and four rebounds, while Racky Kane contributed 11 points and nine rebounds. Phelan totaled nine points, and Barnes finished with four points while leading the Dolphins with six assists.
CSI concludes the regular season with an 11-17 overall record and a 7-9 mark in conference play. With Saturday's win, the Dolphins secured the No. 5 seed in the ECC postseason tournament and will travel to face D'Youville University on March 4 in Buffalo, N.Y., with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
