Columbia, MD – The College of Staten Island women's flag football club team traveled to Maryland this past weekend to compete in a two-day regional tournament, playing four matchups. The Dolphins finished 1–3 overall.

CSI opened the tournament against Mercyhurst University, battling to a deadlock at the end of regulation. In overtime, Mercyhurst struck first and converted the extra point to take a 7–0 lead. CSI responded with a touchdown of their own but was unable to convert the extra point, falling just short in a 7–6 loss.

In game two, the Dolphins faced Radford University. CSI carried a 6–0 lead into halftime before taking control in the second half. The offense erupted for 22 unanswered points while the defense remained dominant, securing a convincing 28–0 victory and the team's first win of the season.

On day two, CSI opened against PennWest California in another defensive battle. The game remained scoreless through regulation and moved into overtime. CSI had the first possession but was unable to capitalize. PennWest followed with a scoring drive to claim a 6–0 win.

In their final matchup, the Dolphins took on SUNY Cortland and entered halftime with a 7–0 lead. Cortland got on the board midway through the second half but failed to convert the extra point, leaving CSI ahead 7–6 with 11 minutes remaining. With under three minutes to play, Cortland scored again to take a 12–7 lead after another missed extra point. CSI quickly drove down the field in the closing moments, but a last-second attempt fell just inches short, sealing the loss.

While the Dolphins' offense showed flashes, the defense stood out as one of the strongest units in the tournament, allowing just 25 total points across four games. Mia Cole earned All-Tournament honors for her standout defensive performance, while Gianna Baglio was also recognized for her impact on both sides of the ball.

Head coach Lu reflected on the team's performance and the experience, which included her first career win at the collegiate level: "I couldn't be prouder of their performance. They were battle-tested and proved how competitive they are, even if it wasn't the outcome we wanted. Our team made huge plays, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and we will be more ready for the next set of games."

The Dolphins will return to action at the NCFFL Pennsylvania Regional on April 10–11.
