LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The College of Staten Island men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are nearing the end of the regular season and will compete in the two-day Rider Invitational this Friday and Saturday. Friday's slate will feature all field events, including jumps and throws, while Saturday will be dedicated to the track events.

Washington and Galletta Named ECC Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Earlier this week, the Dolphins earned their first two East Coast Conference (ECC) weekly awards of the season following a strong showing at the Oscar Moore Invitational. Adonijah Washington and Peter Galletta were recognized for their standout performances. Washington made program history by becoming the first CSI athlete to record a national qualifying mark, winning the triple jump with a distance of 12.12 meters. The mark ranks 15th in the nation and first in the East Region, and has earned her invitations to both the Penn Relays and the NCAA National Championships later this May. She was named ECC Field Athlete of the Week. Galletta captured ECC Track Athlete of the Week honors after winning the 3000m race in 9:47.43, setting a new school record in the process.

Oscar Moore Invitational Recap

The Oscar Moore Invitational proved to be the Dolphins' most successful meet of the outdoor season, with four total program records falling. In addition to Washington and Galletta, Anna Carafiol set a new mark in the 3000m with a time of 12:29.28, Adriana Roa broke the 800m record in 2:24.38, and Dominik Hric set a new standard in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.54 meters.

CSI also saw several other strong performances across the meet. Mia Bowden placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.86 meters, while Angelina Guerriero finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 31.99 meters. Sam Whelan advanced to the finals of the 100-meter dash, placing fifth in the preliminaries before finishing sixth overall in 10.86. Kayla Larsen and Jeremiah Downer each recorded fourth-place finishes in the 400m dash, with times of 1:05.56 and 59.44, respectively.
