SOFTBALL FALLS IN DOUBLEHEADER MATCHUP WITH SAINTS

BUFFALO, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team traveled to Buffalo on Friday afternoon for an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup against D'Youville University, dropping both games of the doubleheader, 12–4 and 11–0.

Today's doubleheader concludes the regular season series with the Saints and the Dolphins dropped, 4-0.

Game One: D'Youville 12, CSI 4 (5 Inn.)
The Saints seized control early, erupting for six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding 6–0 lead.

The Dolphins answered in the second when Bridget Motley led off with a single. After advancing to third with two outs, Kaylee Cary delivered an RBI single to right field to get CSI on the board, cutting the deficit to 6–1. D'Youville responded quickly, adding two runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend its lead to 8–1.

CSI continued to battle in the third as Madilyn Paul led off with a triple to center field. Aliveah Warner followed with an RBI to bring her home, and Milene Mendoza kept the inning alive with a single. However, the Dolphins were unable to capitalize further.

The Dolphins added two more runs over the final innings, with RBI contributions from Paul and Motley, but the Saints pulled away for a 12–4 victory in five innings.

Motley and Mendoza each recorded two hits, while Motley, Warner, Paul, and Cary drove in runs. Marena Grenier started in the circle, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two.

Game Two: D'Youville 11, CSI 0 (5 Inn.)
In game two, the Dolphins were unable to generate offense as the Saints completed the sweep with an 11–0 win in five innings.

CSI recorded hits in multiple innings, with Madilyn Paul, Kaylee Cary, Abbie Morris, and Alyssa Acosta each tallying at least one. Acosta led the effort with two hits. Despite putting runners on base in nearly every inning, the Dolphins were unable to bring anyone home, stranding multiple runners, including two in the fifth.

The Dolphins, now 12–18 overall and 7–9 in ECC play, will return to action on Friday, May 1, when they travel to Sparkill, NY to face St. Thomas Aquinas College at 2:00 p.m.
