BASEBALL DUELS WITH MOLLOY THROUGH 12 INNINGS IN ECC CLASH

UNIONDALE, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team opened its final regular season series against Molloy University on Thursday in a single game matchup hosted by the Lions.

The two teams battled through 12 innings before Molloy secured a 7-5 walk-off victory.

Jason Romance gave the Dolphins an early spark, leading off the game with a home run for a 1-0 advantage. Jaden Waterman followed with a double and later scored on a JJ Hunter RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0. Molloy responded in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game at two, and took a 3-2 lead in the third.

After several quiet innings, the Dolphins rallied in the fifth. Jamel Vera led off with a single, and with the bases loaded, Hunter delivered another RBI to tie the game at three. A wild pitch allowed Jack Kehoe to score the go-ahead run, and in the sixth, Kehoe drove in Vincent Weigele to push the lead to 5-3.

Molloy chipped away late, scoring once in both the eighth and ninth innings to force extras. Despite multiple baserunners in extra innings, the Dolphins were unable to capitalize. The Lions ultimately ended the game with a walk-off home run in the 12th.

Hunter led CSI with two RBI, while Weigele recorded a team-high three hits. Michael Flashner added two hits, and Romance finished 1-3 with a home run and an RBI. Ryan Palm started on the mound, pitching 7.0 innings with three strikeouts. Kehoe provided strong relief, tossing 3.1 innings and striking out five.

The Dolphins (13-27, 8-19 ECC) return to Uniondale on Friday for a doubleheader against Molloy beginning at 12:00 PM, with CSI serving as the home team.
