LUCY RECORDS FIRST COLLEGIATE CAREER GOAL AGAINST FELICIAN AT HOME

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team hosted Felician University for its second game of the 2026 campaign Wednesday afternoon at Dolphins Soccer Park. The Dolphins battled throughout the afternoon, scoring an equalizer off a corner kick before a late goal was waved off as CSI fell to the Golden Falcons, 2-1.

The majority of the first half remained scoreless, with Felician applying pressure and recording nine shots compared to one for the Dolphins. The Golden Falcons eventually broke through in the 40th minute, finding the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

CSI came out with increased offensive pressure in the second half, as Caitlyn Thompson and Sara O'Donnell recorded consecutive shots to open the frame. The Dolphins continued to build momentum and were rewarded with a corner kick. Thompson delivered the ball into the middle of the box, where Addison Lucy headed it home to tie the game at 1-1 and also making her mark with her first collegiate career goal.

The Golden Falcons responded shortly after, scoring off a corner kick of their own to regain the lead, 2-1, with plenty of time remaining. Both teams continued to trade chances throughout the remainder of the half, but the Dolphins nearly found a dramatic equalizer in the final seconds.

With the ball near the net and less than 10 seconds remaining, Mazzy Cirinelli quickly restarted play with a throw-in and Thompson battled for possession before Jillian Shea won the ball and found O'Donnell. The sophomore fired a long-range shot toward the top-left corner of the net and found the back of the net, but with time expiring, the officials waved off the goal, and the Dolphins ultimately fell, 2-1.

Lucy led the Dolphins offensively with her first collegiate goal, while Cirinelli and Thompson each recorded two shots. Thompson also added an assist. In goal, Oksana Zahirna recorded nine saves.

The College of Staten Island women's soccer team (0-2) will hit the road for the first time this season when it travels to Caldwell, NJ, to face Caldwell University Saturday at 12:00 PM.
