CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES IN BACK TO THE BOWL INVITE; ROA FINISHES FIRST

HOLMDEL, NJ – The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2026 campaigns at the Back to the Bowl Invitational, hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology, in Holmdel, NJ, on Saturday morning.

The season got off to a strong start, with the women's team finishing third out of eight teams and the men placing sixth out of 11 teams.

For the women, Adriana Roa picked up right where she left off last season, leading the Dolphins with a first-place finish among 54 runners. Roa crossed the finish line in 20:18.1, recording the fourth-fastest 5K time in CSI women's cross country history. Raquel Pasco was the second Dolphin finisher, placing 14th with a time of 22:58.7, followed by Kayla Larsen at 23:47.4. Aurelia James made her collegiate debut, finishing 22nd in 24:51.0, while Jacqueline Washington rounded out the Dolphins' finishers with a time of 28:18.0.

On the men's side, the Dolphins competed with eight runners, led by Peter Galletta, who finished in 18:14.7. Nicholas Allegretti made his collegiate debut and was the second Dolphin finisher, crossing in 18:54.8. Luca Schelling followed just three seconds later with a time of 18:58.2. Jehu Ermilus and Walter Gavilanes both recorded personal-best times, with Ermilus finishing in 19:25.0 and Gavilanes crossing in 19:36.1 in the 5K event.

The College of Staten Island cross country teams will return to action on September 26 at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Bethpage, NY.
