The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball added Christina Rubin to the assistant coaching staff in a supporting role as volunteer assistant coach in Ctober of 2019.
A former Staten Island high school standout, Rubin was a 1,300-point scorer at Moore Catholic High School from 2010-14, helping the Mavericks to four consecutive CHSAA Archdiocesan titles, who then went on to play for NCAA Division I Iona College where she played in 23 games prior to transferring to Division II Pace University. With the Setters, despite missing almost a full year due to injury, she averaged 7.8 points per game over her career, connecting on over 35% from three-point range, while shooting over 82% from the line.   Â
CSI will not be Rubin's first coaching stop. She has been coaching women's basketball for the St. Joseph - St. Thomas Parish on Staten Island, and has been serving as a private basketball instructor since 2018. For the past four years, she has been a trainer and instructor with the Rocky Ferrante Basketball Camp on Staten Island as well. Â
At CSI, Sarcone hopes for Rubin to principally fill a role with practice preparation, opponent scouting, and with developmental work specific to guards.Â
