COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND ATHLETICS

Kelsey Carey

A former NCAA Division I standout and professional basketball star overseas, Kelsey Carey was named an assistant coach of the Women's Basketball Program in the summer of 2018, debuting alongside Head Coach Nicole Sarcone.

A Staten Island native, Carey was a star player at St. Joseph Hill High School, becoming Staten Island's all-time point-scoring leader with over 2,100 points scored during her career, leading to four straight CHSAA Most Valuable Player honors.

The success followed her to NCAA Division I Fairfield University, where Carey became an All-MAAC player by her junior season, she became captain her senior year, starting in every game while eclipsing the 1,000-point club and a first-team All-Star selection.

By the close of her collegiate career, Carey went abroad on a full-time Master's program while playing professionally for the Griffith College Swords Thunder professional basketball team in Dublin, Ireland. She was awarded College Player of the Year honors.

Now in her first turn as a collegiate coach, Carey will be sought after to instill the same discipline, work ethic,  and rebounding prowess she had as a player into the young CSI unit as they prepare to embark on the future with new leadership.  She is expected to work with both inside and outside players as well as recruit some of the area's best talent to compete on the Dolphins' campus.
