Sam Spadaro

A former standout basketball player at Staten Island Academy and Springfield College, Sam Spadaro was named an assistant coach of the women’s basketball program in the summer of 2021.

A Staten Island native, Spadaro played an integral part in the success of the Staten Island Academy girls’ basketball program from 2011-2015.  Only the 12th player in school history to score 1,000 points. Sam helped guide the team to a New York State Class B Federation Championship in 2014-2015.  Upon graduation, Spadaro earned a spot on the Springfield College women’s basketball team.  After a career-ending injury, she stepped into a new role as head manager/student coach,  beginning her coaching journey while earning a Bachelor of Science in Applied Exercise Science.

Spadaro brings much experience to the staff after having coaching stops on many different levels.  In 2019-2020, she stepped into the role of student manager for the Temple University Women’s Basketball Program while earning a Master of Science in Sport Business. Then in 2020-2021, she interned for the College of Staten Island Men’s Basketball Program under Head Coach T.J. Tibbs.  Spadaro then lent her instruction to the Staten Island Mavericks AAU program, and St. Joseph Hill Academy JV girls’ basketball team.

Sam will be a major contributor as a member of the coaching staff.  She will assist in practice planning, player development and the recruitment of future student-athletes.
