Drew University scored all four goals in a seven minute period of time to defeat the Dolphins in women's soccer on Tuesday afternoon in wet and muddy conditions at the CSI Soccer Complex. The Dolphins fell to a 5-2 overall record while the Rangers extended to a 7-4 record.
The game was well-contested to start with CSI's Danielle McLaughlin making some great saves in goal. It was at 30:59 that Drew opened the flood gates on the scoring. A pass from Michelle Malone found the foot of Kristen Blake who took a quick shot that hot off the left post and went into the net for the first goal of the game. Almost exactly four minutes later Abby Dingle scored from down the middle off a pass from Katie O'Keefe. A minute and a half later, the same duo helped the score to 3-0 with a long pass that drew the goaltender out of the net for open scoring. Wanting more, it took Liz Loiodice just 30 seconds to score the final goal of the game unassisted close to the net.
The Dolphins stepped up their defensive game in the second half allowing just four shots but unfortunately the damage was done.
CSI had no shots while the Rangers tallied 22 at game's end.
McLaughlin had seven saves for CSI. For Drew, Blake had three shots with two on-goal and a goal as Caroline Kuras had three shots with two on-goal.
"Amanda Pecaccio, Jessica Levy, Stephanie McNichol, Christina Jacob and Nicole Quattrocchi were so strong on defense today," said Head Coach John Guiagliardo, "I'm really proud of the way played against these elite team."
The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday, October 9, against Medgar Evers at 12:00 pm at the CSI Soccer Complex.
