Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins offense remained red-hot in their last game behind double-digit scoring efforts from six different players.
Kayla Schmitter, the team's third-leading scorer with 10.1 per game, led the way with 20 points against the Cougars. CSI's other two players averaging double-figures,
Megan McEwan and
Jada Rogers, both had 15 in the game. The Dolphins also got stellar contributions off of the bench from
Denise Priolo and
Tori Moylan who scored 12 each while Diedre Foster added another 10. Last year's second-leading scorer
Diana Todaro has averaged 6.7 points per game thus far, but continues to be a major factor on the boards with just shy of 7 per game, second on the team behind only Foster's 7.4.
Players to Watch (MC): Kadijah Dickson leads the Lions in scoring with 17.3 per game on nearly 50% shooting from the floor. Gabriella Aspuru is not only the only other player for Molloy averaging double-digits with 10.5, but she is also the only other Lion with more than 35 shot attempts shooting over 40% from the field. Dickson and Aspuru are the team's top two rebounders as well with 8.6 and 5.9 per game respectively. Marthe Guirand has shot 46% from the field on her 35 attempts and has averaged 5.1 rebounds per game, but most of her work has come off of the bench as she has started only four of the ten games for Molloy.
News & Notes: These two teams last met in 1985 when the Lions picked up a lopsided 28-point victory over the Dolphins, 77-49. The two teams do not share any common opponents this year, but the Dolphins have not fared well against Division II competition to this point playing to a record of 0-4 in four games. However, the Dolphins have set season scoring highs in each of their last two games with 96 points against CCNY last Tuesday and 105 against Medgar Evers on Friday. This pair of outstanding performances at the offensive end of the floor has seen CSI's team shooting numbers increase to 37.2% from the field and 27.5% from beyond the arc. The Lions have very similar shooting numbers to those of CSI, 38.1% from the field and 28.1% from long range. Molloy will enter tonight's game allowing only 34.8% shooting to their opponents and 30.8% shooting from downtown on just 52.4 points allowed per game. They will be looking to slow down a Dolphins offense that scored double that amount in their last game against the Cougars.
What's Next?: Molloy will continue to play a packed December schedule that will wake them to Queens College on Saturday for a 3:30 PM meeting with their conference rival. The Dolphins will play one final game before the new year this Saturday, December 14
th when they host the Knights of Mount St. Mary College at 1 PM.
