The College of Staten Island's Athletics Program is mourning the loss today of former Baseball student-athlete, Ramces Tiburcio. After a near year-long battle with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer), Tiburcio passed away on May 27. He was 29 years old.
A Bronx native, Tiburcio became a CSI Dolphin in the fall of 2010, playing baseball at the College in a reserve role for two seasons in 2011 & 2012, before transferring to and graduating from Rutgers University in 2015. In limited time, he appeared in 28 games over two seasons, making eight starts.
Recently, Tiburcio married the former Elisha Castillo, and the couple celebrated the birth of their baby boy, Micah, in June of 2019. The news of Tiburcio's death has been both sudden and tragic, and his fraternity brothers at the Pioneros Chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity have set up a
Go Fund Me page to help support his wife and child during this time. A little over $27,000 has been raised thus far.
The family wishes to remind all of Ramces' unwavering spirit and determination, his unique positivity in light of his condition and his love and dedication to his family and friends
