BRANCH BROOK PARK, NJ - The College of Staten Island Men's and Women's Cross-Country squads both competed in today's NJIT Challenge, a meet highlighted by several personal-best performances from members of both teams. On the women's side, all eight CSI runners finished with four of their eight competitors achieving the best time of their collegiate careers. Four men achieved personal-best times as well and the team finished 15th out of the 27 men's programs competing.
INSIDE THE MEET
Achieving personal-best times on the men's side were Spencer Milito, Alan Bass, Ahmed Khodir, and Samuel Pope. Behind these performances, the Dolphins also compiled the fifth-fastest time average in program history and outperformed fellow CUNY institution and Division II member Queens College. For the women, Caitlyn Burns, Isabel Gallo, Julia Calvo, and Alexandrea Jackson all ran collegiate personal-bests to give the Dolphins a total of eight individual runners who achieved that feat during today's meet.
DOLPHIN(S) OF THE MEET
Today's Dolphins of the meet are the four runners that not only exceeded their previous top times individually but also led the men to the fifth-fastest time average in the history of the program. Milito, Bass, Khodir, and Pope were the catalysts behind the Dolphin's record-setting performance and helped land the team a finish near the middle of a field packed with talent.
