MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COMPETE AT FRED PAVLICH INVITATIONAL

ANNADALE-ON-HUNDSON, NY - The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the Fred Pavlich Invitational, running in the 6K and 8K races. 

On the women's side, the team finished with a score of 75, securing third place in the meet. Adriana Roa, who recently became the program's all-time 5K leader, set the 6K record with a first-place finish in her heat, clocking 24:57.3 for the second-best overall time of the day.

The final runner for the Dolphins who finished in the top-20 in the day was Elizabeth Nicotra with a time of 28:44.00 and a few seconds later was Anna Carafiol (29:06.7) and Mahawa Kouyate (29:59.0). 

Kevin Deyo led the charge for the men with a personal best performance in the 8k race when he clocked in a time of 31:13.6. Matthew Amato was just about a minute behind Deyo with a time of 32:42.6 followed by Walter Gavilanes at 35:22.7. The men finished in fifth overall with a score of 105. 

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will take a two-week break from competition, returning on October 11 for the NJIT Invitational in Newark, NJ.
