DOLPHINS PUMMELED IN LOSS TO GOLDEN KNIGHTS, 112-54

Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball team suffered a one-sided defeat at the hands of the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose, 112-54. The loss drops CSI's record to 0-2, while the Golden Knights improve their record to, 2-0. Before today's game, the final matchup in the 2021 Tournament of Heroes, the crowd observed a moment of silence once more for Terrance Aiken, Scott Davidson, and Tom Hannafin, three former CSI student-athletes who perished during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. In game one of today's tournament, visiting teams, University of New Haven defeated D'Youville College, 101-52.

KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins played a hard back-and-forth game for nearly the first four minutes of action, with Austin Mick scoring their first six points of the game. A minute later, Messiah Mallory would hit a jumper that put CSI up, 8-7. However, that would be the last lead the Dolphins had as the Golden Knights went on a 21-5 run in the next seven-plus minutes of play giving them a 28-13 lead. The Dolphins would play CSR nearly even for the remainder of the first half, but CSR would go into halftime up, 55-31. The second half was all CSR, as CSI had one too many turnovers and multiple scoring droughts that would ultimately doom them in the 112-54 defeat.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Dolphins shot 30% from the field while the Golden Knights shot 53%. The Dolphins tallied 19 turnovers in the game leading to 33 points off those turnovers for the Golden Knights. CSR would hit 28-30 free throws as they were the aggressors in the game. CSI would only take seven free throws, connecting on six of them. The Dolphins did a solid job on the offensive glass grabbing eleven of them. However, CSR would grab 12 of their own. Although, CSI grabbed nearly as many offensive boards, they were not able to capitalize on any of them.  Meanwhile, CSR would score 26 points off of their second chances.

DOLPHINS OF THE GAME
Luis Armas, Austin Mick and Messiah Mallory were the only Dolphins in double figures with 11, 11 and 10 points respectively. Combined, they accounted for five of CSI's eight three made in the game. Mallory also tallied three blocks in the game and tied a game high of five rebounds with two other Dolphin players.
