GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BATTLES NYACK IN NON-CONFERENCE MATCHUP

11/23/2021 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball team (1-2) welcomes the Nyack College Warriors (0-2) into the Tank for a non-conference matchup this evening at 5:30 PM. Tonight's meeting will be the first between the two teams since the 1984-1985 season, and the winner of today's game will take a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. The Dolphins will be looking to rebound from a pair of difficult losses during which they suffered through prolonged scoring droughts in the second half of each contest. The Warriors head into tonight's game still in search of their first victory of the year in what will be the third of four straight road games to open their season. For fans looking to attend tonight's game or any intercollegiate athletic events at the College of Staten Island, please refer to our recently updated Winter Spectator Policy for all information regarding the documentation necessary for admission into The Tank.

LAST TIME OUT

Following a 1-1 performance in the first-ever CSI Women's Basketball DII Conference Challenge to open their season, the Dolphins dropped a hard-fought overtime thriller against the University of New Haven last Wednesday night. The Dolphins lead entering the second half, but after CSI registered only two made field goals between the fourth quarter and overtime, the Chargers were ultimately able to pull away in the extra period for the eight-point win.

DOLPHINS TO WATCH

Despite her team taking the loss, it was a memorable night for the reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week Jenalyse Alarcon last Wednesday as the freshman scored 15 points and grabbed 21 rebounds while playing all but a single minute in the game.  Gia Esposito also continued her hot shooting to open the season on Wednesday with a 4-8 performance from beyond the arc in which she scored 18 points off of the Dolphins bench.
