Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

FIRST HALF SCORING DROUGHT DOOMS DOLPHINS IN SECOND CONSECUTIVE DEFEAT, 90-60

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball team was back on their home floor tonight for a non-conference matchup with the Felician University Golden Falcons. The Dolphins, now 2-7, trailed by only three with seven minutes to go in the first half, but a 15-0 run by Felician, now 5-3, broke the game wide open on their way to a thirty-point victory.

KEY MOMENTS

The Dolphins immediately jumped out to a five-point lead to open the game but couldn't extend the lead any further. In the minutes that followed, the two teams remained within five points of one another with the Dolphins pulling to within three on a Michael Ashley layup at the 7:14 mark. However, this would be the last time the Dolphins would score before the break as the Golden Falcons closed the half on a 15-0 run. The Felician run continued following the intermission as they scored the first four points of the second half, and it wasn't until nearly three minutes into the half that five consecutive Chris Velasquez points brought the Dolphins back within seventeen. This CSI scoring run was short-lived, and the Dolphins wouldn't get any closer than fifteen the rest of the way in a thirty-point defeat.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The Dolphins shot right around their season mark of 37% from the field while the Golden Falcons shot 52% from the floor. Felician also dominated play around the rim with 44 points in the paint and a +10 advantage on the boards. Perhaps the most striking disparity was the 27 Felician points off of CSI turnovers to the Dolphins 12 points off turnovers.

DOLPHIN OF THE GAME

Tonight's Dolphin of the Game was the most efficient CSI shooter and scored the ball well inside and outside of the arc. Austin Mick finished the game with 11 points in just 30 minutes shooting 5-9 from the field and connecting on one of his two attempts from long range. His performance in the first half helped keep the Dolphins close until the CSI offense went cold during the final seven minutes of the half.
