Staten Island, NY | College of Staten Island Esports program has enjoyed an incredibly successful year, Most notably, the program's Rocket League team captured an ECC Championship, finished as ECAC Runners-Up and earned an invite to the Collegiate Esports National Championship. CSI freshman
Maxim Kleyer, a Macaulay Honors College student and member of the Men's Swimming & Diving team stopped into The Dolphin Pod this week to char about the experience and the thrill of being a part of the inaugural program in 2021.
A first of its kind news magazine podcast at CSI, The Dolphin Pod chronicles all things College of Staten Island Athletics. Weekly previews, reviews, interviews and more are on tap every Friday afternoon. CSI Associate Director of Athletics
David Pizzuto anchors the show, alongside Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach
Nicholas Doran.
On this week's show, Pizzuto chatted with Kleyer, who talked about how the COVID stall of the swimming season allowed him the opportunity to pursue Esports more rigorously. Playing with colleagues for the first time this fall, he explained how the team was able to gel and mature into one of the conference's, and now the nation's elite Rocket League teams. Kleyer lent insight into what it takes to be successful in the sport, how Esports keeps him balanced, and the future of the team that is still in its relative infancy. It's an eye-opening episode with a guest who will make a splash physically and virtually at CSI.
