Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Cross-Country teams placed 12th overall among the 14 teams in official team competition earlier this afternoon as part of the Adelphi Panthers Invite in Bethpage, NY. The women finished ahead of Farmingdale State College and Yeshiva University with a total time of 2:23:27.00, less than five minutes behind 11th placed ECC rival, Queens College. The men finished ahead of Post University and Pace University with a total time of 2:42:21.60, less than a minute behind 11th placed Farmingdale State College.

INSIDE THE MEET
On the women's side, 129 student-athletes completed their 5K runs, including seven Dolphins. Two of the seven, placed in the top 100. On the men's side, 141 student-athletes completed their 8K runs, including six Dolphins. Three of those six, placed in the top 100.Â

DOLPHIN(S) OF THE MEET
For the women, Sophomore
Julia Calvo, was their top performer; she came in at 65th overall with a time of 23:41.90 in her Dolphin Cross-Country debut. Freshmen
Caitlyn Burns, rounded out at 99th overall with a time of 27:39.80 to help the Dolphins capture their 12th placed finish. For the men, Junior
Spencer Milito was their top performer came in at 61st overall with a time of 29:40:10 while
Ahmed Khodir and
Alan Bass secured their top 100 spots, placing 99th and 100th overall respectively.

COACH'S REACTION
Head Coach
Andrew Gangemi, noted post-meet, he was proud of his team's performances, giving the amount of time that has passed for many of those who last ran in a cross-country race. "They looked prepared, we wanted to go through what it's like to race again and prepare for a race. Gangemi added, my expectations moving forward, will be to work on our fitness, race strategy & tactics and look to improve each week."

Up next for both squads will be the Fordham Fiasco Invite at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY on Saturday, September 11. Shotgun times will be, 11:15AM for the women and 11:45AM for the men.
