MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN SEASON FINALE AGAINST QUEENS, 4-0

Queens, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team ended the 2022 season with a 4-0 loss against CUNY and East Coast Conference rival Queens College earlier tonight.  The loss drops CSI's record to 4-11-2 overall and 2-4-2 against the ECC.  The Knights finish the 2022 season 13-5 overall and 6-2 against the conference.  Queens will be the two seed in the East Coast Conference Men's Soccer playoffs.

The match got off to a poor start for the Dolphins as they committed a penalty just over ten minutes into the first half.  Adolfo Martinez Paquet would score on the PK, but remarkably, he would get another chance on a second penalty kick just eleven minutes later.  Once again, he converted on the PK and the Dolphins were in an early 2-0 hole.

CSI was able to stay within two goals until the conclusion of the first half, but they were being outshot 11-5 heading into the halftime break.  The Knights struck again soon after the second half got underway and a Leo Pinto goal put Queens ahead by three.  With less than five minutes to play, Juan Monge Allue added one more and the Knights went on to win by a final score of 4-0.

For the Dolphins, tonight's match was their last of the 2022 season, their first as a full NCAA Division II member.  With full Division II membership came the chance to qualify for the East Coast Conference playoffs for the first time in program history.  2022 also marked the first full season as Head Coach for former Associate Head Coach and longtime Dolphins assistant Alex Cuba. Barring unforeseen changes, the Dolphins roster should feature many returning players next season as the program did not have many seniors depart this year.
