Donato Curci was named the new Head Coach of the College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team in the summer of 2024. He was elevated to his new position from the role of Associate Head Coach which he took upon joining the program in 2023. His career as a player and coach spans throughout the world and he brings an extremely wide range of experience to the program.
Curci played began an accomplished playing career in Italy at the age of 15 in 1992 when he signed with Foggia Calcio of the first Italian professional league, Serie A. As a part of Foggia Calcio, he played on the U-15 Academy team in the Campionato Nazionale Berretti. He also played with Campobasso Calcio and U.S. Frenter Larino Calcio in Serie D, an Italian semi-pro league. Other stops during his career included U.S. Lucera Calcio, U.S. Audace Cerignola, U.S. San Salvo, and U.S. Sab. Riccia where he scored 16 goals in 21 games. Lastly, he was part of the Regional Selection of Molise in the National Tournament Le due Sicilie.
In addition to his long list of accolades as a player, Curci is a decorated coach as well. First, Curci joined Foggia Calcio as an Assistant Coach with the U-15 Academy team. He then gained his first experience as an assistant coaching adult players in 2004 with San Giorgio Apricena Calcio, another semi-pro league. He also worked with different clubs like Lucera Calcio, his hometown, Audace Cerignola, and Manduria at the semi-pro level.
In 2014, he moved to Miami where he worked as an Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Miami United FC. While there, the team posted a record of 7-3-0 and won the NPSL Sunshine Conference in 2014. After Miami, he joined Foggia Calcio Lega Pro third Italian professional league as an Assistant Coach. While ther, he worked with Roberto De Zerbi, a former Italian soccer player and current manager of Olympique de Marseille Ligue 1 (first French professional league).
