MEETDAY: SWIMMING & DIVING TAKES PART IN THE USMMA INVITE

11/19/2022 6:00:00 AM

King's Point, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Swimming & Diving Team will travel to King's Point this morning to take part in the USMMA Invite.  For the 2-2 Dolphins men, this meet will be their fifth of the season following last week's visit to St. Francis College.  For the women, they come in 3-1 on the season and will enter today's meet following two weeks off since their last outing.  During that meet, Head Coach Michael Ackalitis earned his 100th career victory behind a pair of wins for the CSI women that evening.

For the women, Jessica Johnson has taken the top spot in every individual event she has competed in this season.  The same goes for record-breaking diver Jordan Swanson who has also take 1st in every diving event she has participated in as well.  Freshman Brooke Manning, who recently broke another record in the 100-yard butterfly, has added another four first-place finishes in individual events this year for a women's squad that is well-rested entering action this morning.

The CSI men were in Brooklyn last weekend as they competed against St. Francis College.  Though the Dolphins suffered a lopsided defeat on the scoreboard, they got the opportunity to compete alongside Division I competition for the first time this season.  Ahead of last week's meet, Anthony Attenborough had won every individual event he took part in through CSI's first three meets.  The same went for Michael Graham on the diving boards, and Charles Cusumano wasn't far behind with four top finishes.  In addition, Cusumano has also been a part our four first-place relay squads this season.

Today's meet, hosted by Division III USMMA, will see the Mariners compete for the first time since over October.  The women opened their season with a 128-77 victory over New Paltz on October 14th in their lone meet of the season.  The men have competed in two meets thus far, a 139-62 win over New Paltz on October 14th, and a 176-118 win over Steven on October 22nd.
