MEETDAY: INDOOR TRACK & FIELD OPENS SEASON AT YOUREE SPENCE-GARCIA INVITATIONAL

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team will open the 2022-2023 season today as they compete in the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational. The event, which serves as the annual season opener for Division I St. John's University, will be held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. For the Dolphins, this meet will be followed by over one month off ahead of their second meet of the year, but today's season opener will give the team a chance to participate alongside some of the toughest competition in the region.

The 2022-2023 roster for the Dolphins features a mix of returners and newcomers that have Associate head Coach James Luginsland excited about the upcoming season. Many of the new faces on the roster made their debut during the Cross-Country season which recently concluded last month. However, there are freshmen such as Kevin Hasty, Aryanna Finkelstein and Columbus Enslen will debut for the Dolphins in Field events during the upcoming season.

This year's roster also features standouts from last year's team including 2022 Track & Field Rookie of the Year Skylar Pointer and 2022 Track & Field Player of the Year Ava Thompson. Many of the Track athletes on this year's team were a part of the 2022 Cross-Country squad as well. Standouts from this year's Cross-Country season that return for Track & Field include Muhammed Qadri, Alan Bass, Alexandrea Jackson, Julia Calvo, and Fabiola Jean.
