GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GOES FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN AT STAC

Sparkill, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team goes for their fourth straight win this afternoon as they take on the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in an East Coast Conference matchup. The Dolphins come in 3-4 having won each of their last three games. Their most recent victory over Mercy on Wednesday improved them to 1-0 in conference play. The 5-2 Spartans are 0-1 against the ECC following a loss against the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday. The Dolphins picked their lone win over the Spartans 40 years ago, but the Spartans swept the two-game season series last season.

The Dolphins were last in action on Wednesday against Mercy College, and led by 14 points from Elizabeth Lofaro, the team picked up the victory in their conference opener. The Spartans were on the road for their last game on Wednesday against UDC in what was also their first game in conference play. The Firebirds took the ten-point victory over STAC to earn their first win against the ECC.

Jenalyse Alarcon continues to lead the Dolphins in scoring and rebounding, and after 17-point and 14-point efforts in her last two games, Lofaro has joined Alarcon in averaging double-figures. Lofaro is also shooting over 61% from three-point range for a Dolphins team that is shooting 38% from beyond the arc this season. The Spartans also are led in scoring and rebounding by the same player as Sarah Ericson is averaging 13.7 points and 8.4 rebounds on the season. The team's second-leading scorer Erin Leary is shooting nearly 53% from the floor on the season for a Spartans team that is shooting around 41% on the year. However, STAC is only shooting 26% from three-point range giving the Dolphins a distinct advantage in outside shooting entering today's matchup.
