GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RETURNS TO ACTION IN NEW YEAR'S EVE MATCHUP WITH ADELPHI

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team will be in action for the final time in the 2022 calendar year today as they take on Adelphi University at The Tank. The Dolphins enter today's game 4-8 on the season and the Panthers come in 6-4 on the year. Today's game will be the first time these two teams have met and the first time the Dolphins have played a game on their home floor since December 6^th.

The Dolphins concluded a three-game stretch of road games two weeks ago on December 17^th against Goldey-Beacom. For the Dolphins, the 81-73 loss to the Lightning was their second consecutive loss. The Panthers last played on Monday, December 19^thand picked up a 77-60 win over Bloomfield College in non-conference play.

The Dolphins have three players averaging double-digit scoring on the year led by Jenalyse Alarcon with 11.4 points. Ashley Lambert is not far behind with 10.4 points per game followed by Elizabeth Lofaro with an even 10 points per game. Lofaro leads the Dolphins in three-point shooting at over 60%, but her absence from the CSI lineup has seen the team's shooting from beyond the arc fall to 33% on the season. However, the Dolphins continue to shoot over 40% from the field as a unit and have maintained an even rebounding margin through twelve games. Like the Dolphins, Adelphi has three players averaging double-digit scoring. Leading the way for the Panthers is Ty'zhea Hawkins who is scoring just shy of 20 points per game on the year. Jenna Jordan is averaging 12.4 per game and Lauren Hammersley is averaging 10.7. Hawkins is shooting just shy of 50% from the field and Hammersley is also shooting nearly 40% from downtown for a Panthers squad that has shot 40% from the floor and 35% from three-point range on the season.
