Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball team fell to Nyack College tonight. In what was a back-and-forth contest, they lost to the Warriors, 76-75. This is now back-to-back losses for the Dolphins after previously winning three of four. CSI now falls to 7-15 on the year and remain at 6-8 in conference play. The opposing Warriors improve to 10-10 and 7-6 in CACC play.
KEY MOMENTS
The Warriors got on the board first. Throughout the first five minutes, it was a back-and-forth affair. Nyack would own a five-point advantage following a monster jam off of some sloppy Dolphins play, 15-10. Both teams would continue to trade buckets behind some great offense. CSI would cut the lead to just two after a
Luis Armas finish, 24-22. A
Bryce Waterman triple would help CSI knot things at 27 with just over four minutes to go in the half. Behind a
Chris Velasquez trey, the Dolphins would lead, 32-29. This forced the Warriors to talk it over. CSI entered intermission with a three-point cushion, 34-31. Out of the half, the Dolphins quickly extended their lead to six, 37-31. Behind a Waterman three-ball and a Mallory finish, CSI would find themselves with their largest lead of the game (11), 46-35. The Warriors responded by ripping off a quick 9-5 run. This cut the Dolphins lead to just seven at the 12:38 mark. Out of a timeout, Nyack kept it coming. They continued to chop into the lead as defense was leading to offense. They trailed 59-58 with eight minutes to go in the contest. After briefly grasping the lead, CSI would respond. Throughout crunch time, both teams would trade blows. The Warriors took control in the final minute as they went on a mini 4-0 run, 76-72.
Austin Mick would knock down a triple to bring CSI within one, but the Dolphins would ultimately miss at the buzzer. They fell to the Warriors, 76-75.

Despite the loss, the Dolphins shot really well from the floor. They shot 50% from the field, 50% from three, and 40% from the free throw line. The biggest disparity came in the turnover department. The Dolphins turned it over 17 times to only 4 by the Warriors. Nyack College went on to score 23 points off of those giveaways. CSI was also outscored in bench points by 11 (24-13). The Warriors would end the game shooting 40% from the field, 27% from three, and 94% from the line.
