AVA THOMPSON NABS THIRD PLACE MEDAL IN WEIGHT-THROW EVENT IN ECC INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON FINALE

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field teams made some noise during the East Coast Conference (ECC) Track & Field Championship Meet today. The championship meet was held at Staten Island's Ocean Breeze Track Complex. The events started at 9:00 AM and went well into the late afternoon. CSI ended their season highlighted by freshmen field athlete Ava Thompson who placed third overall in the Weight-Throw Field Event with a lifetime best and school record throw of 12.92 Meters. Vincent Ohenhen had the best finish for CSI on the track in the 60 Meter Dash event placing 6th overall with a personal best of 7.22s in the preliminaries; he would finish 7th in the finals with a time of 7.37s. Ohenhen also placed 7th in the 200 Meter Dash event. In addition, Christian Fernandez, Samuel Pope and Spencer Milito all recorded personal bests in their respective track events.
 
For the team track events, in the 4x400m relay, the women's team of Albano, Burns, Calvo, and Jackson, placed 9th with a time of 4:40.75. While in the 4000m Distance Medley Relay, the team of, Caruso, Galan, Calvo, and Jackson placed 8th with a time of 15:26.78. On the men's side of the 4x400 relay, CSI's team of, Fernandez, Pope, Khodir, and Ohenhen placed 8th with a time of 3:38.17, a little over a second ahead of Roberts Wesleyan. While on the 4000m Distance Medley Relay the men's team of, Pope, Fernandez, Khodir, and Milito finished in 5th place with a time of 11:15.55, just under 12 seconds ahead of Daemen College's team.
