Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island began their 2021-22 campaign today in Winter Haven, FL against Millersville University. This was the first if their six-game slate to start the season. They fell to the Marauders 10-1. CSI was scheduled for a 12:15 matchup with the College of Saint Rose, but the game was postponed due to weather conditions. Today's contest puts CSI at 0-1 on the season, as the opposing Marauders improve to 5-5 overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Millersville got things started in the top of the first as they tacked on two quick runs. CSI would rip off one hit in the bottom of the first before the Marauders would keep it rolling in the second. A homer would lead to three runs as Millersville extended their lead, 5-0.
Isabel Gallo and
Avery Mochrie would both single for CSI in the bottom of the second. After a few hitless innings from both squads, CSI would finally get on the board. This was sparked by a reach on a wild pitch as
Gorret Komuhendo scored, 5-1. Unfortunately, that was the sole run of the game for the Dolphins as Millersville would respond with authority in the top of the fifth. They would tally a four-hit, five-run inning and go on to win comfortably, 10-1.

CSI tallied one run, three hits, and one errors in the game.
Laila Aponte went 1-for-3, Gallo went 1-for-1, and Mochrie went 1-for-2 in the contest. Pitchers A. Miramonte and K. Strayer combined for three strikeouts in the game. Millersville finished the game with 10 runs, eight hits, and no errors.
