MEN’S AND WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SET PERSONAL & SCHOOL RECORDS IN WCU GOLDEN RAM INVITATIONAL

Staten Island, NY –  The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams competed in their third event of the season in West Chester, PA. CSI took part in the WCU Golden Ram Invitational against several other colleges.CSI participated in 10 events in total; four of which recorded new school & personal best records. INSIDE THE MEET

In the 100-meter dash, Kyle Quesda placed in 18th with a time of 12.04. For the women's squad, Caitlyn Burns set a personal record with a time of 13.37 as she finished in 10th place. In the 200-meter, Vincent Ohenhen set both a personal and school record with a time of 22.66 which placed him in first place for the Dolphins men's team. Burns placed in 14th for the women with a time of 27.97. In the 400-meter, Christian Fernandez came in 12th place with a time of 56.74, while Alexandrea Jackson placed in 11th with a finish of 1:12.86. Ahmed Khodir set a personal record in the 800-meter with a time of 2:02.38 as he placed in fourth place for the men. For the 1500-meter, Spencer Milito would set personal record of his own with a time of 4:33.1. This finished him in eighth place for CSI. In theMen's 4 x 400-meter relay, Dolphins' Thompson, Samkabba, Khodir, Ohenhen, and Fernandez placed third with a time of 3:34.39. Ava Thompson came in 10th place in discus with a distance of 27.71m. In Women's Javelin, Florentina Lonati threw for a distance of 22.44m which was good for fifth place.

 
COACH'S REACTION

"Today I saw our student athletes really execute complete races. They were able to put everything together. Vincent had the performance of the day. Getting our first win of the season and breaking our school record. Ava had another strong day in the hammer circle. Moving in the right direction at the mid point of the season."
